Manchester Metropolitan University (often referred to as MMUMan Met or Manchester Met) one of the largest and most popular universities , is a public university located in Manchester, England. It was established in 1970 as Manchester Polytechnic and gained university status in 1992. Its headquarters and central campus are in the city of Manchester, and there are additional facilities in Cheshire.

English Language Requirements

  • For most undergraduate courses, students need to reach IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5

in any component.

  • For most postgraduate courses, students need to reach IELTS 6.5 with no less than 5.5 in

any component for taught masters, and no less than 6.0 in any component for postgraduate research.

  • If students would like to improve their English before they start their course, the university can help.

The Language Centre at Manchester Metropolitan offers English language and academic skills courses

to prepare students for university study in the UK.

 

Foundation Year

             Higher School Certificate awarded on completion of Standard 12 with reasonable grade.

Undergraduate Courses

            Higher Secondary School Certificate awarded on completion of Standard 12 with good grade.

Postgraduate Courses

            Bachelor degree (awarded by a recognised university); or BA, BCom, BBA, BBM, BMM;

            or BE (Engineering), BTech.

Accommodation for International Students

 

  • All international students are guaranteed accommodation in university student halls,

provided they are in their first year of study and apply before the specified deadline.

  • The accommodation is located on or close to Manchester Metropolitan University’s campuses,

near local amenities, including shops and food outlets.

  • Each residence has a staffed reception (24-hour reception in some halls), 24-hour security and a

team of Residential Advisors who are available to offer support and advice.

 

 Room rents start at £106 per week in Manchester, and £75 per week in Cheshire. In total, 66% of rooms

are en-suite. All are self-catered. The majority of halls are reserved for first-year students.

Manchester Metropolitan University is committed to recognising high-achieving students and they

have a comprehensive range of scholarships available.

Vice-Chancellor Scholarships (Non-EU Students only)

Manchester Met is making a limited number of Vice-Chancellor scholarships available, each to the

value of £5,000. These scholarships are open to international students who enrol on a full-time

undergraduate or postgraduate taught programme.

You can apply for an award if you:

  • are an international student (classified as ‘overseas’ for tuition fee)
  • and are not currently registered on a course at Manchester Metropolitan University

Postgraduate Scholarships

  • Manchester Metropolitan University is offering a number of postgraduate scholarships,

                up to the value of £2,000.

  • The scholarship is open to international students who enrol on a full-time postgraduate taught

                programme and is based on academic merit. This will be evidenced in your academic transcripts

                and graduation certificates.

You do not need to apply for this scholarship. You will automatically be considered and they will contact

you if you are successful. Over 75% of eligible enrolled PGT students received this scholarship for the

2016/2017 academic year.

which international students are able to apply for, including alumni discounts and faculty-specific discount.
